This time, Santa Monica Studios has revealed the character design and concept art for Odin in God of War Ragnarok, and it’s not what you expect it to be! God of War for the PS4 took the series’s visuals a step further despite the comparatively weak hardware of the console for its time and gave us graphical fidelity, exciting gameplay and a story that was a true successor to the original God of War trilogy.

Concept Art for Odin in God of War Ragnarok Leaked

The next entry in the line-up has finally given us an insider look at the character design and concept art for the Allfather, Odin, in God of War Ragnarok. The concept art for Odin was recently leaked online. One of the key interesting aspects of God of War Ragnarok is that the game now introduces us to mythical Norse Gods and characters that were previously mentioned but not introduced in God of War for the PS4. This was possibly done to create hype for the sequel to the latest God of War entry. The Allfather of Norse mythology, Odin, was referenced several times in God of War for the PS4, but we never really got to see him. The same could be said for Thor, God of Thunder, who we only got to see for a brief second in the secret ending cutscene from the backside for God of War for the PS4. We got numerous teases from the art director for God of War, Raf Grasseti, quite early into the year as he indicated that the character design and concept art for Odin was going to be pretty special, but the gamers and fans will be the judge of that. It led to lots of speculation and theorizing about what the final concept art and render for Odin would look like for God of War Ragnarok. Much thanks to Aesthetic Golem, who also goes by the name Dusk Golem, we might have just gotten our first sneak peek at the Allfather himself with some leaked concept art, for that matter. Aesthetic Golem took to the Reddit Page, r/GamingLeaksandRumours to share his discovery or supposed troll on the internet. Take this as a warning if you don’t want to spoil yourself with what’s claimed to be the final rendition and concept art of Odin for God of War Ragnarok.

It’s pretty hard to make out Odin’s concept art with the low-resolution image and with the words “Dusk Golem was Here” splattered on the front of the image. But it’s still a leak, for that matter. The image showcases what appears to be a pretty old and weathered man who’s seen some hard times over the years. We don’t know if it’s a troll, considering that he plastered his nickname across the picture. But the numerous upvotes from the users over at the page tell a different story. Just from the looks of it, Odin for God of War Ragnarok seems to be a formidable and intimidating character with his eye glowing fiery orange, but at the same time, Odin seems like a tired old man that has seen better days. He also seems to be covered in dust which shouldn’t be the case for a mighty Norse God. It does seem that Odin bears a bit of resemblance to the characters Baldur and Tyr. He doesn’t seem to be wearing the hat that he’s seen boasting on the top of his cranium, as we observed in the murals dedicated to him in God of War for the PS4. He does live up to his legacy of being the “one-eyed Allfather”, as he’s missing an eye in the supposed concept art. Whether this concept art is an accurate leak or not is still up for speculation. Some fans believe that this is indeed what Odin will look like in the upcoming God of War Ragnarok, while some fans consider it to be a sham. In any case, the leaked concept art does carry on the hype for Odin in God of War Ragnarok, as fans are now excited to see if the leak is an actual representation of the concept art for Odin, the Allfather, in the final release of the game. Considering Odin is going to be one of the mightiest opponents Kratos will face off against in the God of War series, it seems pretty surprising that he’s being set up as a withered and tired old man. It’s contrary to the direction Santa Monica studios has taken in the earlier years of God of War, where players went up against the beefed-up and mighty Zeus or the immortal Baldur. One thing that isn’t clear from the leaked concept art is how tall Odin is in God of War Ragnarok. He might be pretty tall, or he could compensate for his stature with the powers, the legend and dialogue that surrounds him, as discussed in God of War for the PS4. God of War Ragnarok is coming out pretty soon for the PS4 and with overhauled visuals, resolution and graphical fidelity for the PS5 on November 9, 2022. So, are you excited for God of War Ragnarok and Odin? Do you think Odin will be formidable in contrast to his appearance? Let us know your views below.
