Spectacular Spider-Man Mod is out for Marvel’s Spider-Man
Ever since Marvel’s Spider-Man was released for the PC, creative fans and modders have been releasing new suits for the community to enjoy. It was through these mods that the long-demanded Amazing Spider-Man suit was made available to the fanbase, with players now able to dress up as the Andrew Garfield interpretation of the iconic Marvel hero. The Symbiote suit also made its way to the game along with a few Peter Parker skins. We also got to enjoy full-on custom model swaps the likes of Daredevil, Black Panther, and even Venom being posted to mod sites. The sky is indeed the limit for modders. We’ve got to see many creative mods from modders and fans of the game. Modders added Saul Goodman from the Better Call Saul show which sounds great on paper but the implementation was truly terrifying in the absolute sense of the world. The Spectacular Spider-Man got to enjoy a few seasons before it was inevitably canceled, but in its short run-time, the show managed to tell a memorable tale of the hero’s best stories. The show featured clear crisp animation along with a catchy theme song added into the mix. Many fans had been pushing for a revival of the show for years. It’s unclear if their requests will ever come to fruition but for now, players can experience Marvel’s Spider-Man while wearing the Spectacular Spider-Man suit. The mod in question can be easily downloaded via Nexus Mods. The user Niquita couldn’t have done a better job at recreating the iconic look and feel of the animated model. It was showcased in a lengthy video by Youtuber DVESF, the suit looks incredible in both cinematics as well as in-game combat. Although, there are a few caveats as the model features a slightly smaller version of Peter Parker which does indeed resemble the younger version portrayed in the show. The costume showcases web wings as well but they don’t add any functionality in the game as most would expect. There are no changes to the swinging mechanics of the game either but all-in-all, the design of the suit is spot-on featuring the exact eye shapes and spider symbol as the show once featured. What makes the mod stand apart from the others is that the creator added a cel-shaded style. This particular touch makes the suit feel like it was pulled straight out of the popular animated show and given how spot-on the suit is, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it became a hit with the community. With modders already in the works for animated suits alongside realistic ones, there’s a wide variety of costumes available to the player base on PC. While these are one of the mods that stand out for all the right reasons, some mods have been pretty distasteful within the Nexus Mods modding community. Take the example of the mod that removed American and Pride Flags from the game to replace them with stars and stripes. One user went so far as to post this distasteful mod within the community on a Sock Puppet account. Nexus Mods took strict action and decided to not only remove the mod but also banned both the sock puppet account and the main account of the author. The creators went so far as to post a statement and blog post stating they wouldn’t tolerate insensitive trolling and offensive mods within the community and will take action considering the website is indeed under private ownership. Nexus Mods has taken similar routes for controversial posts before as well but this is the first time they went so far as to issue a statement in a matter that went pretty viral within the modding and gaming community. With many iconic Spider-Man suits from different series, videogames, and comic books, there are plenty of fun character mods coming to the game in the near future. For fans of the Spectacular Spider-Man, this suit is as good as it gets. Had they not been a coward and had they used their main account instead, we would have simply removed the mod and told them that we did not want to host it, only banning them if they re-uploaded it again after being fairly warned. The creation of the sock puppet removed any doubt and made it a very easy decision for us. Both the sock puppet account and the user’s main account have been banned.
